Nigerian youths threaten Ruggedman with death for speaking against "Yahoo Yahoo" and "getting Naira Marley arrested"

A number of young Nigerian men have taken to Ruggedman's page to threaten him with death after he spoke out against internet fraud and condemned budding rapper Naira Marley for defending it. Shortly after Naira Marley made a case for internet fraudsters (Yahoo Yahoo boys), he was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.  But some young Nigerians seem to think Ruggedman is responsible for his arrest and they are now referring to him as a "snitch" and threatening to deal with him if he sets foot in certain places. Some even went as far as wishing death on him and laying curses on his generation. Ruggedman has apologised for the arrest of Naira Marley in a lengthy Instagram post and he got support from a number of his fellow celebrities as they told him he did nothing wrong and has no reason to apologise.      View this post on Instagram         Why would I want an artist arrested? What will be my gain? I have read and heard all sorts of comments pertaining to the @nairamarley case and seen the misinformation making the rounds which is quite unfortunate to say the least. I note that saying I was “happy in a way” about his arrest has evidently frayed some nerves and for that I apologise. It was in hope that it would serve as deterrent for persons who might consider the said ills or need to make a u-turn. It by no means was intended to wish for his downfall. It perhaps was not a good choice of word in hindsight. I do not look forward to anyone’s downfall but rather hope we all learn from the situation. I do not know Naira Marley personally, the same way I do not know the over 300 Nigerians I have gotten justice for against police brutality. I do it because it is who I am. All I did was caution a young artist, who has influence, against making utterances about an issue that by global standard is considered a crime. I believe correcting this was the way to go as an elder, but got insulted for this even by those being misled. I never responded to Naira Marley’s invectives nor those of his fans, same way I have not responded to any of the negative comments from social media. I hereby state categorically that I had nothing to do with his arrest. We all must recall that he glorified fraud on a public platform where security agencies like the Police, NDLEA and EFCC are also on. I am sure they saw his posts and captions the same way we all did. I, however, was the one that cautioned him. I guess this was what led all the darts and arrows my way as a literal mortal retribution to my person. Despite the disrespect to my person, I got nothing against him and only longed for him to be discerning and utilise his position of influence appropriately. May God bless you all and yes that includes those wishing me evil and threatening me. Nothing will change who I am and I will keep you all in my prayers. God bless us all.A post shared by RUGGEDMAN (@ruggedybaba) on May 14, 2019 at 10:35am PDT See some of the threats Rugggedman has received below. The post Nigerian youths threaten Ruggedman with death for speaking against "Yahoo Yahoo" and "getting Naira Marley arrested" appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.

PDP, Atiku planning to sabotage Buhari's government ― FG

Image result for atiku abubakar president buhariThe Federal Government today accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential flag bearer in the February 23rd election, Atiku Abubakar, of planning to sabotage the Buhari-led administration. The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, made the accusation while addressing State House correspondents in Abuja today Wednesday May 15th. Reading from a prepared text titled, “PDP’s Brand of Opposition Politics Poses Great Threat to Nigeria’s Democracy,” the minister alleged that the PDP and its candidate were keen to make the country ungovernable. The minister who declined to take questions after reading his text stated: “The Federal Government has strongly decried the increasingly unpatriotic and desperate opposition politics being played by the PDP and its presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, warning that such dead-end opposition could be toxic for the nation’s democracy if left unchecked.“Never in the history of politics in Nigeria has an opposition party and its presidential candidate exhibited the kind of desperate tactics being deployed by the duo of the PDP and its flag-bearer, especially since President Muhammadu Buhari overwhelmingly defeated Atiku to win the 2019 presidential election.“Either by themselves or via their proxies, the PDP and its presidential candidate are doing everything possible to sabotage the Buhari Administration, generally overheat the polity and make Nigeria seemingly ungovernable, especially through their public utterances and their poorly-thought-out press releases before and after the 2019 general elections.“Unless they quickly retrace their steps, they may, sooner than later, overreach themselves.“For those who may be quick to accuse the government of crying wolf, the pre-election statement credited to the former Vice President, that unless Nigerians vote out the APC Administration, killings by herdsmen will continue and ultimately spark a series of ethnoreligious crises that will be irreversible, is looking more like a Freudian slip than anything else.“Also, in recent times, the PDP has taken its desperation to a new low by attacking the judiciary, an action many see as indicating a reversal of the party’s hitherto self-assured stance that it has a solid case against the election of the President.“And either by coincidence or orchestration, a faceless group emerges from nowhere calling for an overthrow of a democratically-elected government, a totally egregious act of treason.“It beggars belief that a candidate who prides himself as a Democrat can so allow desperation to becloud his sense of propriety to such an extent that he will be associating with anti-democratic forces or making inflammatory statements.“For acclaimed democrats, there are acceptable channels of seeking redress after an election defeat. Even President Buhari himself went to court three times to challenge election results.“What is not acceptable is to either resort to self-help after an election defeat or to embark on a journey of subterfuge and sabotage while also mounting a legal challenge or pretending to do so.“Worst still, painting the judiciary bad for whatever reason is anti-democratic and unconscionable.“We want to urge the main opposition party to stop beating the drums of war, concentrate on the legal challenge by its candidate against the election of President Buhari if indeed they have any faith in the country’s judiciary, and desist from unnecessarily overheating the polity.”  The post PDP, Atiku planning to sabotage Buhari's government FG appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.

Bisi Alimi reveals he has had many failed attempts at committing suicide

Posting via his IG page, Bisi wroteI N T R O S P E C T I O N. I have struggled with many demons in my life. Mental health is still the biggest. Many failed attempt at suicide. Many times I look in the mirror and hated myself. Even those days I come on Instagram and give the best laughs and make everyone smile, I crawl back to my shell, crying and just waiting for the dark cloud to move. Many nights I cry myself to sleep even in the midst of abundance. Many people see me and want a life like mine and rightly so cos life has been good to me; a wonderful husband, a lovely dog, wonderful friends, a house in the middle of London, a 2019 Mini Cooper countryman, as a public speaker, I have spoken at many prestigious stages around the world and have many powerful and influential people as friend, but even me, I do get those days that getting out of bed or going into bed is hard. While I was on social media laughing on Sunday, my demon was eating me up, I failed to see all that I have achieved but confronted with all my failures. Many 10 years ago. Why should a 10 year ago failure cover the success of today? Well that’s what mental health is about. This picture is me communicating with that demon. I stop fighting it and start learning to live with it, I start learning to see it as part of my life, I am learning to understand that it has come to stay and that we will have to be together till death comes. I am not ashamed of my mental health and my struggles everyday. You shouldn’t be ashamed of yours as well. You are stronger than you think and it is okay not to be okay. Failure is not a measure of success, it is the reward of trying. Never be ashamed of failure. Success is never an end in of itself, even the rich also cry. #mentalhealth #bisialimi #photography #instagay #introspection #failure #iamwinning#peace #timetotalkThe post Bisi Alimi reveals he has had many failed attempts at committing suicide appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.

Photos: Tragedy strikes as Ugandan minister’s 2-year-old twins drown in swimming pool

The twin sons of Uganda’s State Water Minister Ronald Kibuule have drowned in the family swimming pool at their home on Monday.  The exact circumstances behind the drowning of the twins identified as Roman Kato and Raiding Wasswa, remain unclear because CCTV cameras were off although the children were in the care of two male minders, the Daily monitor reported. Police who responded to distress calls from the family and well-wishers took the two male domestic servants into custody for questioning. They also retrieved the corpses and took them for embalming at the City Mortuary in Mulago, Kampala. “Yes, they drowned in the swimming pool, but we do not know what exactly happened because at the time of the incident the Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras were off,” said Mr Davis Lukyamuzi, an uncle of the minister.  Both Mr Kibuule and his wife, Fortunate, were away. The guards at the palatial home said the kids were playing on the expansive compound and in the care of two male minders when they drowned. One of the guards, speaking on condition of anonymity in order not to jeopardise ongoing investigations, said they were unaware about the presumed freak fatal accident until one of the minders yelled that “we are dead; the kids have drowned”.  Minister Kibuule was at the time of the incident reported to be in Kampala while his wife, Fortunate, had reportedly driven to pay workers at a construction site in Namataba, which is a few kilometres from home. They returned home in haste, and were visibly overcome by emotion and unable to speak on the tragedy. Hundreds of mourners, many wailing loudly, milled on the compound and dozens trudged with hurried steps to the home located in Mbalala.  Women and men could be seen with hands clasped across their chests, and tears streamed endlessly on the cheeks of many who choked on words as they saturated in the pain of a parent losing twins in a family swimming pool. Mukono District Police Commander, Mr Rogers Seguya, visited the home and inspected the swimming pool, which investigators are treating as a possible scene of crime.  Detectives, according to reports, will seek to establish whether the surveillance cameras had malfunctioned prior or failed only on the fateful day. They will also try to establish if the kids’ drowning was an accident or involved foul play. President Museveni as well as Mr Rebecca Kadaga, the speaker of Parliament, telephoned to condole with the bereaved family, according Mr Lukyamuzi.  The children have been laid to rest on Tuesday. The post Photos: Tragedy strikes as Ugandan ministers 2-year-old twins drown in swimming pool appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.

Stop giving bribe to police, immigration, others - Osinbajo tells Nigerians

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has admonished Nigerians to desist from giving bribes to police, customs, FRSC, Immigrations and other officers before they get things done. The Vice President spoke against bribery today May 15th when he declared open the anti-corruption conference tagged “Collaborative Approach to Eradicating the Evils of Corruption in Nigeria.’’ While speaking at the conference, Osinbajo said that in spite of the high oil revenues in Nigeria’s history, debt doubled and poverty figures rose as a result of the endemic corruption that has plagued every sector in the country. He said the Buhari administration is aware that it has not won the war against corruption which is one of the cardinal campaign promises of the administration. He however noted that many of the agencies in this administration have shown their support towards the war against corruption.“Corruption in the issuance of contracts , licences and other government approvals. There is no reason why any Nigerian should have to give bribe to law enforcement agents for obtaining drivers licenses or passports, or to clear goods at our ports. All the relevant government agencies have shown a serious commitment to eradicating these forms of corruption; our next level is to create the environment for collaboration between our agencies, civil society and other stake holders.’’ he said The post Stop giving bribe to police, immigration, others - Osinbajo tells Nigerians appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.

Breaking: Kano High Court declares installation of new four Emirs in Kano emirate invalid

Breaking:Kano High Court declares installation of new four Emirs in Kano emirate invalidA Kano state high court sitting in Ungogo has declared the appointment and the installation of four new emirs by Abdullahi Ganduje, governor of Kano state, as illegal.   Nasiru Saminu, the presiding judge, on Wednesday ordered a return to status quo pending the hearing of the suit against the appointment of the news emirs. The state high court had on May 10 issued an ex parte order restraining balkanisation of Kano emirate and installation of new emirs.   Ganduje however failed to comply with the order, issuing appointment letters, and subsequently presenting staff of office to the new emirs. Rabiu Gwarzo, a member of the state assembly, had earlier filed a suit challenging the creation of the new emirates.   On Tuesday, Kano kingmakers filed another suit against the governor and state government challenging the balkanization of the emirate. The kingmakers who took the legal action are Madakin Kano, district head of Dawakintofa; Yusuf Nabahani, district head of Wudil; Abdullahi Sarki-Ibrahim, district head of Gabasawa; and Bello Abubakar, district head of Dambatta, Mukhtar Adnan. The post Breaking:Kano High Court declares installation of new four Emirs in Kano emirate invalid appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.

'Manchester United's problems are the players, the organisation, the ambition': Jose Mourinho blasts his former club

'Manchester United's problems are the players, the organisation, the ambition': Jose Mourinho blasts his former clubPortuguese coach, Jose Mourinho has taken a swipe at his former employer, Manchester United after the club suffered an embarrassing season that saw them finished 6th on the Premier League table. The 56-year-old was sacked as United boss back in December after a disappointing start to the season saw United fall way behind their top-four rivals and a public falling-out with record-signing Paul Pogba on the training ground. When asked in a recent interview with  L'Equipe whether French midfielder Paul Pogba was the biggest problem at Manchester United,  Mourinho said:'The problems are there, you can say that these are the players, the organisation, the ambition, I only say that I cannot say yes when you ask if Paul was the only one responsible,' Mourinho told'I said nine or 10 months ago that after winning eight championships, finishing second with United may have been my greatest achievement,' he added. 'Now people understand.'I do not always do my analysis publicly on Manchester United. I do not want to talk about it and I have the feeling that I do not need to speak, that time gives explanations. 'About United I want to say only two things: One is that time has spoken. Two is that the problems are still there.'Mourinho also took a thinly veiled swipe at his successor Ole Gunnar Solskjaer:  'Generally, the players can feel a certain erosion, especially when you ask a lot of them.'When I say that the second season was fantastic, I say it because the potential and the objectives were met.'I really squeezed, like an orange, to achieve them. When you have a very professional group of players who are ambitious, hard-working and talented, at a structured club, you don't have that erosion.'When you are almost alone, in that you don't have the support of the club close to you, while certain players go somewhat against the coach, who is the nice guy.'I don't want to be the nice guy, because the nice guy, after three months, is a puppet and that doesn't end well.'  The post 'Manchester United's problems are the players, the organisation, the ambition': Jose Mourinho blasts his former club appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
