Major surprise as Benfica push to hire Pochettino

The Argentine has been out of a job since being sacked by Tottenham in November of 2019 and is a target for various clubs across Europe.

At Benfica, current head coach Bruno Lage will leave his role at the end of this season.

According to Record, Pochettino is on Benfica’s shortlist to replace him after Jorge Jesus, who is currently in charge at Flamengo, rejected an offer.

“My future? It’s the million dollar question and I ask myself it each day,” Pochettino said a few days ago.

“I think the most important thing is to be ready and open for when football decides where it’s going to take me.”

Reports in Portugal say that Pochettino has already held talks with Benfica about the head coach’s job.

Although it’s more of a dream than a possibility, the Portuguese club are prepared to offer him big money in order to convince him.
